Lenkaran

Located in the south-eastern part of Azerbaijan on the coast of the Caspian Sea, Lenkaran is famous for its sub-tropic climate. Here it is possible to cultivate various citrus plants, tea, rice and numerous vegetables. Due to unique climate conditions Lenkaran is widely known for its National Parks, like "Gizilaghaj", which includes more than 250 kinds of plants, 30 rare species of fish and more than 220 various kinds of birds. The "Gircan" National Park is famous for its very old trees, such as "Demiraghaj" ("Iron Tree") and "Shamshit" ("Box Tree").

See the ruins of the quadrangular fortress, built in the eighteen century, mosquees and bath houses. The history of the location of Lenkaran city goes back to three hundred years ago, where there was nothing but rushy swamps. Leric settlement is located amist picturesque landscapes. The people used to live on the banks of Lenkaranchai river were hunting in cane thickets for various games. Lenkaran is famous as the place of the "long-livers" where you can even find 120 years old inhabitants. You may enjoy the delicious fish-cuisine, for example the "Lavangui" fish, stuffed with nuts and raisins.
