Lenkaran
Located
in the south-eastern part of Azerbaijan on the coast of the Caspian
Sea, Lenkaran is famous for its sub-tropic climate. Here it is
possible to cultivate various citrus plants, tea, rice and numerous
vegetables. Due to unique climate conditions Lenkaran is widely
known for its National Parks, like "Gizilaghaj", which includes
more than 250 kinds of plants, 30 rare species of fish and more
than 220 various kinds of birds. The "Gircan" National Park is
famous for its very old trees, such as "Demiraghaj" ("Iron Tree")
and "Shamshit" ("Box Tree").
See
the ruins of the quadrangular fortress, built in the eighteen
century, mosquees and bath houses. The history of the location
of Lenkaran city goes back to three hundred years ago, where there
was nothing but rushy swamps. Leric settlement is located amist
picturesque landscapes. The people used to live on the banks of
Lenkaranchai river were hunting in cane thickets for various games.
Lenkaran is famous as the place of the "long-livers" where you
can even find 120 years old inhabitants. You may enjoy the delicious
fish-cuisine, for example the "Lavangui" fish, stuffed with nuts
and raisins.
